Along the far NE end of Germany, along the coastal region....is the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, with a population of about 1.6-million Germans.
The last election was in 2021...with the SPD Party winning 40-percent of the vote. The AfD came in second place with 17-percent.
In the past week, another poll was done....figuring ahead of the September 2026 election (3 years away).
It's a crappy result. AfD is figured to be in first place with 29-percent of the vote....the SPD has fallen to 27-percent, and the CDU is in third place with 18-percent.
Bad indicator? Yeah.
At the pace of things...I expect over the next three years for at least three states in the eastern side of Germany to be AfD wins. Whether they can form a government? I doubt it because no other party will take this risk. So you'd end up with the 2nd place winner....coalition-building with two much weaker parties (perhaps even a coalition of four parties).
All of this a reaction of the general public as being in opposition to the SPD-run national gov't? Well....that's the general indicator. A lot of stumbling around....building a poor 'brand', and crappy public 'sales' via public TV.
