First, over in Dresden.....for years....there's been a museum in town called the 'GDR Museum'. Basically, it was dedicated to show all things from the 1946 to 1989 era of old East Germany.
I won't say it was in the top ten things to do in town....or even the top twenty things.
Today, they announced the entire collection of the museum going up for sale. Yes, the museum is shutting down. Reason? No one ever came much to see the place.
For a society that existed for about 40 years.....there's just not that much interest. I would imagine the technical or mechanical items will sell quickly and be parts of national museums. The bulk of DDR stuff? I'm not sure how well it'll sell.
Second, N-TV news this AM said that across Germany now....around 230,000 apartments have installed 'mini-power-plants'.
Meaning? You can now buy a solar panel package (usually one to two panels) that feeds into a apartment electrical system. It is simple enough, with the instruction package....that anyone can do it without an electrician involved.
What I find curious about the numbers....they've doubled in nature since January, and the current pace...I expect the number to approach 400,000 by spring of 2024.
Lessening the 'draw' from commercial power? No one says that....yet.
