Vaccination Story

Today, Wiesbaden (my local town) came out and put up advertising for 'shot-givers'.  They expect in about fifteen to twenty days....to open the Covid-vaccination center.  Their issue now?  Well....they don't have the adequate number to run two shifts (0630 AM - 1030 PM).

The list open?  Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, medical assistants, medical and pharmaceutical-technical assistants (MTAs and PTAs) as well as surgical and anesthesia-technical assistants (OTAs and ATAs).

In fact, they even opened it to midwives, pediatrician nurses, and paramedics.....anyone with the certification of medical qualification.

Pay?  What the city says...they will pay according to your skill level, current pay deal, and hours of work.

It's basically taking a hundred-odd people....away from their regular work, to create a shortage in some new way....to fill the open spots for this vaccination program.

Is this something that they should have talked about back in September?  Well....yeah.

To run a 1,000 shots a day.....seven days a week?  I would be guessing around 15 folks per shift (two shifts).

How far does this go?  Thats another curious thing....the city says up to 30 April 2021.  Why only that far?  There's some belief that the second vaccines will arrive a month or two into the new year......being distributed to regular clinics and doctors.  So this special vaccination center would just shut down then (at least the thought is that way).

Something that folks would want to volunteer for?  I'm not that sure.  Maybe if you were offering regular pay for a 40-hour week, with a 150 Euro bonus deal for each week completed....I might be open to this.

Maybe a few retirees show up with the qualifications and things correct themselves going into January.
