Well, in 1992, they start to count the nation-wide over-night stays, and for 1992....it was 318-million.
ARD did a fairly good analysis of past and present numbers....worth a read.
2020's numbers? 299-million nights....lowest since 1992.
How it goes in 2021? It's still a big unknown, and one might suggest that probably half the hotels in the nation are in serious financial trouble if this year doesn't start to show improvement.
The general belief by Germans? Between the vaccination and lessening infection numbers for the summer months....this vacation-period in June-July-August ought to take off big-time. The odds of out-of-country tourists returning? I'd shake my head over that suggestion....at least for this year.
