Once a year, some Germans sit down and review the past 12 months....to select 'bad' words that have been invented (usually by German teenagers but sometimes by government officials themselves).
The two selected for 2020's efforts?
1. "Corona dictatorship".
This was used by the folks negative over the Covid-19 ban rules, and usually were reserved for government officials.
2. "Repatriation sponsorships".
This actually was created within the EU mechanism....a commission on migration policy.
It became this sponsorship term for countries that didn't want to accept refugees (basically the EU would just pick a number of asylum folks and deliver them to your country).
So there's various countries which said 'no thanks', but then they said they'd be willing to help deport them out of your country (assuming that these folks failed the asylum request upon arrival).
This word invented was mostly a cynical term. Yes, repatriation was basically deportation.....if you stood and thought about it.
