The German FFP-2 Mask Chatter

 It's comical that N-TV picked up the topic of this new mask mandate in Germany and talked about the one particular issue with the FFP-2 mask.

So here's the thing....it's not the type of mask that a regular guy off the street should wear, because it absolutely requires a PROPER fit.  

For those who served in the Army or Air Force....you probably remember that initial introduction to the old gas-mask.  Sarge would be standing there and giving forty lines of how it had to fit right, or it was worthless.  He'd come up to each guy or gal....noting if they did it right, or making them remove it and practice the procedure again.  

In simple terms, the gas-mask in a war situation, with chemical attack going on....was utterly worthless if you wore it the wrong way.

This FFP-2 mask?  Same way....if you don't SEAL the mask to your face, the mandate is worthless.

Over the past year, I've probably observed at least 2,000 Germans who wore the mask they had on....in a very flimsy way and air was easily getting in from the sides or top.  

Just a humble guess, but probably 50-percent of people aren't wearing the mask in a productive way.

So this FFP-2 path?  Same issue.

The odds that some PhD guy will figure this out and talk the political folks into some mandatory training program on how to properly wear a mask?  It wouldn't shock me.
