Another New Party?

Interesting piece today....from FOCUS writer....Ulrich Reitz.  Apparently, there's some chatter going on in Germany...that Hans-Georg Maaßen is interested in creating a conservative right-of-center party....saying the the CDU is no longer such a party.

BS?  Well....if you asked older folks (over 60).....most would respond that during the whole Merkel era (2000-2021)...the CDU moved itself to a center-center type political position..

Odds of a party appearing out of thin air?  I would imagine if you asked a hundred typical CDU voters....at least five would be seriously interested in an alternate (not the AfD folks of course), and another five would at least to the talk.

Hurting the CDU?  Yeah....you could be talking of a national election where the CDU can't get more than 20 percent of the national vote.  Same pain for the CSU in Bavaria.

My humble guess?  By the fall of 2025....this new creation (if it occurred) could probably get in the range of five to seven percent of the vote.
