Jobs Story

Interesting statement today by the German Andrea Nahles (director of the Federal Employment Agency).

Sixty-one percent of people registered with the Arbeitsamt (employment office) are not fully qualified/certified for anything....meaning that the only path is 'helper' jobs....where your experience or qualifications are not measured.

In this little speech given....there's no doubt that jobs exist and stand empty...mostly because there's not a large segment of society capable of really filling the jobs.

My wife (German in nature) made a comment around three years ago.....her company needed trained/certified inventory/sales clerks.  They just weren't finding people with the background to fit.

Nahles went on in the news piece....saying that every ten jobs in the system advertised....eight are written for people with some certificate and background....not the unqualified or zero-certification type individual.

Fixing this?  You could be talking about 18 months of support/funding....to get these people geared for the jobs advertised.  If they don't speak German or lack basic schooling?  You can add another two to three years onto this idea of resolving this.
