According to the news, three Germans dead. One guy had loaded some big-time firecracker into a pipe and it went off prematurely.....killing himself. In Koblenz, another 18-year old guy died from injuries.
The German firefighter's union is calling for more serious regulation (control) for their folks.
In Boxberg.....a 22 year old guy had bought from beyond the German border....an illegal high-explosive, and died from injuries after it exploded prematurely.
The final tally this mid-day in Berlin? Around 390 folks arrested and given papers to show up shortly in court. 54 fire and ambulance personnel were injured (30 by fireworks). There's at least 700 investigations still going on, and possibly the arrest number will go past 1,000 in the end.
I'd say while the police/emergency personnel are patting themselves on the back for limiting problems.....there's going to be a political call to ban fireworks. 2025 is the next federal election year, and it's possible fireworks might end up as a top 10 problem that the public wants 'fixed'.
