9 Jan 2026: Germany: 4 Things

 1.  The average 'top' cost for a German driver's license class?  Getting near 4,500 Euro.  Read a piece today suggesting that more than half of license/training operations are likely to fail in 2026....cost  is too much for most young Germans. Gov't is promising some type of relief....to correct the situation.

2.   BILD piece: 17,604 insolvencies were reported in Germany for 2025 (amounting to some average of 48 per day.

3.  This terror group that caused the grid outage in Berlin....put a warning letter out....suggesting operation number two is planned....for a neighborhood/quarter....to the far east of Berlin.  People taking the threat serious.

4.  Saxony-Anhalt election.  Comes up in Sep of 2026.

Right now.....polls show AfD at around 40-plus-percent. SPD? At 6-percent (marginal situation).  CDU near 24-percent.

With roughly eight months to go, it's possible that the AfD may cross the 50-percent point, and not require a coalition.

If I were to pin the upswing?  Most of the luck goes to the regional candidate...Ulrich Siegmund (business-man turned politician).
