Five German News Stories

 1.  Just an odd story on Focus....about E-car production for Germans.  There's a story which leads you to believe that most of the E-cars that Germans will be driving in the future...will NOT be produced/made in Germany (Tesla might be the exception).  Several German companies are simply suggesting they will make their E-cars in China.

Selling Germans on Chinese-made quality (lack of quality)?  Just about impossible.  So I'm wondering who sold them on this cost savings business.

If this trend holds over the next decade?  Tesla cars might be the most sought after vehicle....by default.

2.  WELT has a piece this AM....talking over inflation.  About one out of every six in Germany is now suffering from the trend.

3.  Last night was the German show to pick their representation to the European Song Contest (ESC).  Winner?  Lord of the Lost.

I should note....out among Germans, there's probably only 10-percent of folks who get hyped up about the Contest (set for 9 May).  My German wife 'forbids' me from watching the ESC show.

4.  Peek and Cloppenburg (the clothing shop in Germany) has declared bankruptcy.  I would call them a high-end place....where you spent a minimum of 100 Euro on a visit.

5.  The streaming service Paramount-plus.....is producing a series on a fictional environmental group who resorts to violence to achieve goals.  "A Thin Line."

Might be a bit too realistic for some people.

Here in Canada too, the high end shop Nordstrom is closing operations as well, i have seen 2 other major stores folding in the last 15 years : Eatons - very old Canadian high end store bought by Sears ... and Sears closed not long after all Canadian operations.
