Political Chatter in Saxony-Anhalt

Poll done this week....state-level of Saxony-Anhalt.  If the election were held today (scheduled right now for Summer 2026)....AfD would win with 35-percent of the vote.

2nd-place?  CDU, with 29-percent.

So here's the odd factor.  No one will partner with the Afd, and they won't be able to get 50-plus percent to run the gov't.

So the CDU would get the chance to form a state government.  What'd it take?

Well....3rd place is Linke Party with 9-percent, and the CDU would not be listing them as a potential partner.

So you go to 4th place....the SPD, with 7-percent.  Then you'd add the Green Party and FDP to get 11-percent.

It'd marginally bring you up to the number necessary to have a coalition, but it's a four-partner situation and bound to dissolve before the next election in 2031.

If the AfD were to carve off two or three more points, and lessen the SPD, Greens and FDP?  Then it's a pretty big mess and no coalition possible....so another election in a matter of three months.
