Three German News Stories

 1.  There's a media foundation in Germany who came out over the weekend suggesting a radical thought for public TV (ARD/ZDF).  The Grimme Institute came to suggest that German public TV ought to stop bidding on top-class soccer games....leaving it to commercial networks.

The point?  Well...by participating in the bidding process....they are driving up the general cost, and putting an enormous amount of pressure on the general public to pay for public TV.

From my view, this is probably correct....but you'd go and dissolve around 16 man-hours a week, and have to 'fill' it with something else.  What exactly do you have?

2.  Germany's wolf problem?  The Environmental Minister (Lemke) came out with a proposal to make it easier to kill wolves....but not necessarily saying anything different will occur.

Note, hunting and wolf 'management' is still a state-by-state thing.

3.  Indian-summer is about to start this week in Germany....it's regarded as a minor heat-wave (for my valley....27 C).
