This Iran-ISIS Event?

This week, Iran attempted to hold a memorial for Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in early 2020 at Baghdad Int'l Airport....killed by US-operated drones.

It is curious to note....Soleimani had moved up and was fairly well known within Iran and was likely to be in the top five circle shortly.

This memorial service?  All the VIPs were there, and two bombs went off.  84 are dead and the story goes that around 300 were wounded.

Iran went immedately to a scripted text and simply said that Israel and the US were behind this.

Couple hours pass, and ISIS (what remains) says 'no, we did it'.

I paused over this.

In the past five years....a few folks have painted all the lines of ISIS and note that between the Assad gov't in Syria, and the US in some odd way....they fund and run ISIS (at least what remains).  Turkey connected to this in some odd way?  Simply rumors.  Saudis?  Yeah, again strictly rumors. Qatar?  Yeah, simply rumors.

If you go and review the history, it's just an odd thing....this civil war (in Syria and Iraq) was like a magnet....drawing thousands from across the globe for some great-purpose war.  If you were in France, or Germany, or Spain....hooked to the Islamic religion...young and drawn to action....you went off to be a player in ISIS.  To me, it resembled the Spanish Civil War of the 1930s.

At some point, around 60 support-groups came to exist around globe.

At one point, Ruslan Maratovich Asainov came to be a 'player' for ISIS.  It's odd....his name comes up as a naturalized US citizen, and at one point....he's also a FBI-informant.

Good-guy, bad-guy routine with ISIS?  This is the odd factor that you reach after a while.  They are never really a vast army or a well-connected army.  A lot of the younger guys aren't paid anything much....just provided food, shelter and instruction.  Money is funneled through various organizations....almost like a money-laundering organization would do.

Iranians are standing there and asking questions?  I would imagine some are asking how this memorial service idea was dreamed up, who actually attended, and who didn't attend.  Then....someone is going to wonder if this ISIS crew is just a small private army that some CIA folks run....simply stirring the pot.

Another memorial in 2025?  No....I think that's the end of memorials for a while in Iran.
