1. Are there any booze 'spots' in the Wiesbaden train station?
Well...one....on the north end....as you face the station. Up until the 1990s....might have been 2 or 3 'spots'. Over the past 20 years....they mostly went to food shops (McDonalds/KFC).
2. Mainz station?
Mostly the same story....there's one pub at the very end of the station.
3. Frankfurt station?
There's probably five or six spots where you can step in, and have a beer.
4. Boozing after work a lost cause?
1960s/1970s....it was fairly common for the German working guy....to stop....toss back a schnapps or beer every single evening while heading home. That has mostly ended by the 1990s.
5. Boozing in general.....less?
Yeah, I'd make that observation. If you ask any German guy (age 50)....most will say they drink one-third less compared to what they were drinking twenty years ago.
6. Where this trend goes by 2040?
My gut feeling is if you inventory all pubs today....fifty-percent will cease to exist by 2040. Two defining reasons. First....the rental cost is getting to a ridiculous point. Second....Gen-Z crowd consumes marginal amount of alcohol.
