Well....if you follow the news this morning via N-TV in Germany....Bayer has come out and said that Curevac's anti-Covid-19 vaccine. Issues?
Well....Curevac is it's own boss, so Bayer doesn't own them. This would revolve around Bayer working up a deal with Curevac, to be the producer....after they develop the vaccine. This 'deal'? Well....it just started in the last week.
Then there's this issue....Curevac hasn't completed the development/test stage.
A Dutch company (Curevac)? Yeah, that's part of this discussion, but the developmental part of it is in Baden-Wurttemberg.
The production cycle? So far, it doesn't appear to be on the production stage until the last quarter of 2021, and it really takes off in 2022. The production amount? Right now....the talk is 160 million 'bottles' in 2022.
The idea of more vaccine 'boosters' being part of the future? Well....no one really knows. Maybe this two-shot 'gimmick' is enough....maybe it's not. My suspicion is that it'll be like the flu-shot and every 12 to 24 months....another round will be required.
Late in the game? Maybe, but if you gaze around Europe....there are only a limited number of companies into this situation.
The fact that Bayer is fronting this? It might suggest a long-term strategy and bigger landscape than some are suggesting.
