I noticed off N-TV (German commercial news) this AM....the US is deploying more fighters to the Med.
Around mid-summer, around 10 F-35s and 14 F-15s, will arrive at a runway area in western Crete.This is based off a new military cooperation agreement between Greece and the US....which is supposed to be passed this week.
The general suggestion.....they can operate from eastern Med to the Black Sea (I kinda doubt that Turkey will allow Black Sea patrols).
The base in question? Far western part of the isle....on the north side, near Chania.
For those who remember the negative feelings between Greeks and the US from the 1970s/1980s? Well....there has been a up and down situation....with political chaos in Greece being a continual problem.
Most Greeks will readily agree.....in the general public....it's a lot of pro-US feelings and there might be some outside influences trying to hustle up negativity on occasion.
