Yesterday, with the 'heat' coming back to Germany....I sat and had an ice cream. Yes, the creamy rich 'Italian-type' ice cream. It is the stuff that beats just about every American ice cream.
So the price shock....for a three-scoop cup, it was 4.50 Euro ($5.50 roughly). That's probably 25-percent over what I would have paid in the spring of 2021. Yes, one scoop is running around 1.50 Euro....for a single simple cone.
Why the rise? Well....sugar and milk went up.
Odds of another escalation? This was brought up via SWR (public news from the Pfalz region). They are suggesting that a rise of another 10 to 20 percent will occur before the end of summer (that usually never occurs in a 'season').
But this brings me to spring of 2023, and I'm wondering....are we talking about a 2-Euro per cone price then?
