This AM....Berlin city police were given a 29-page 'book' on how to use proper language. Within the guidelines.....you can't say 'southern' anymore....to indicate Turks, Afghans, Iraqis....etc.
Focus had a pretty good update on this.
Basically.....woke-rules have arrived.
What'll happen now? Some enforcement of the rules, and I would expect by mid-summer....10-percent of the city police force will be giving their papers in, and looking for employment in other regions of Germany.
If you were going to describe a knife attack, and the knife guy had dark skin.....you'd have to consult the book to be sure you weren't in violation of the 'code' in describing the guy with 'dark' skin.
Long-term? My guess is that in 18 months...around 25-percent of the current police staff of the city will have found better employment beyond Berlin, and the city council will have some explaining to do....why the police force is short on employees.
I looked over some of the mandates....one of the odd ones: as a policeman making a report....you can't utter "people with a migration background", but you can utter " people with a history of migration". Yeah, it's basically the same thing, but some policeman might look at this and just think.....why utter 'migration' period, you'd just invite some future change.
Even using the term 'refugees'? Well...the book suggests you use the words.....people seeking protection. Course, that phrase could mean you or I....that we just got threatened in the subway, and we seek police protection, but we aren't migrants, refugees or asylum seekers.
Begs the question....why would any gal or guy want to be a German cop?
