This came up in the news this morning in Germany.
There's legislation now being drafted, which says basically....if you came to Germany, and did everything to become a German citizen (getting the passport as well), and you lied on the application paperwork, then you are under some probation for a full decade. That means the fraud could come out in seven years, and you'd be dumped as a citizen.
Is this a big deal.....to create this type of law?
Well....the German authorities say that they have around 250 individuals who've gained citizenship, and their application paperwork has fraudulent information contained within it.
Once this passes, you'd have to go and be careful for a minimum of ten years....to avoid having your situation revoked. After that point? You'd be safe then. At the end of all of this, one might go and ask....why didn't the German authority for handing out visas and citizenship....do enough to just prevent the application in the first place with a fraudulent situation?
