Fridays for the Future Coming to an End?

Since the fall of 2018, the Swedish concept of protest....'Fridays for the Future'....has become a regular Friday event for German school kids, as they leave the classrooms each Friday and stage a protest....skipping school at 12-noon every Friday.

No one has spoken over the numbers but one might get the impression that most all urbanized schools in Germany has seen this protest occur.  Surprisingly enough....politicians have lightly approved of the measure (mostly to show fake interest in the global warming protest).

On the other side of this business....there's at least one to two classes each Friday (at noon), that the kids are missing.  The attendance threatening their grades?  Some schools have given notice that you could potentially fail your school year if you missed all of the classes for each Friday afternoon.

Well, this came up in the Hessen news this morning.  The state Minister of Education, Alexander Lorz, a CDU guy, made the pitch that Hessen students need to end their Fridays for Future demonstrations after the summer vacation period.

In his comments, he stressed that the goals have been reached.

Then he said if they continue as the new school year opens....they would resort to 'appropriate means'.....hinting of serious consequences.  He could go after the parents with fines, or have the police involved.

What's going to happen as the holiday period ends and the new school year starts?  Unknown.  My suspicion is that the kids will continue on, and about two weeks into this episode....letters start to go out with a 10-day warning period of what is going to occur on Fridays.  A few hundred fines will be issued, with kids being jerked around by the parents to 'comply'.  If dragged into court?  I think it'd be a grave mistake that judges get involved, and that kids get a chance to disrespect the court/judges.
