If you watched the Merkel press conference from Paris last night on the news....there's a curious two to three minute piece where she's talking, and taking deep breaths. Yes, she's out of breath.
Out of shape? I suggested in a essay of mine from two weeks ago that if you compare photos of Merkel from 2015 to now....she's put on at least 15 pounds....maybe even 30 pounds.
Press noticing this? Well....last night, no. But today, various newspapers have made a short comment about this, and the Merkel team has defended her....saying that she'd climbed a set of stairs just before the comments began.
People buying off on this? To some degree. But I might go and suggest that when you go and look at all the past dozen-odd Chancellors at age 64....she's in the worst shape of any of them. Kohl did put on weight toward the last ten years of his life, but he was generally well at 64.
