In the past two weeks, there's been chatter around Berlin (mostly by CSU-CDU folks) to have a shuffling of cabinet officers on the Merkel team. They are near the mid-way point of the four years, and most folks will admit that there's public negativity about this coalition government. They won't go and blame Chancellor Merkel, or any particular party.....with most just suggesting that things are 'stale'.
So the question is.....will the CDU-CSU folks be the only ones of the coalition government shuffling around? Or will the SPD (the partner party) do the same thing with their cabinet posts?
For the Finance Minister (Scholz, SPD), he'll likely say 'no' with emphasis. He controls the purse strings, and the various programs that involve money. For the remainder of the cabinet, it's likely changes will occur over the next month or two.
Getting AKK out of the Defense Minister situation? It's possible. Possibly retiring Seehofer out of the Interior Minister? That's possible.
So don't be shocked if five or six names pop up with changes in cabinet officers.
