The German Channel One folks (ARD) went out and did a polling survey on national feelings/priorities.
So the top problem in the public's mind? Integration, migration, and asylum (rated at the top by 31 percent). I should note, the same type survey was conducted a year ago, and the same topic at that point in time was rated at 47 percent.
Sitting in second place? The Greta-crew topic....climate change and saving the Earth, at 27 percent. A year ago, only nine percent of Germans would have rated it at the top. The effort by the Fridays for the Future team? That probably played greatly into this.
Jobs, social problems and old-age welfare/criticism take up the remainder....all pretty much equal.
How this plays out politically?
I would go and suggest that the Green Party have their script for the rest of 2020, and will try hard to hype the climate business for the five state elections in 2020 and the national election in the last quarter of 2020.
The AfD Party will try hard to hype the integration failures and asylum business.
And the remaining parties will try to attract attention to the jobs and social problems so they can pretend to be the saviors of society.
