Last night, via ARD radio (German public radio), with the 6:36 PM news....they did a full and complete report on the American legendary period....the Prohibition Era. Yes, a bit surprising.
The center of this story? Lynchburg, Tennessee....where Jack Daniels whiskey is made.
It was a fairly accurate piece of history laid out. Germans, for some reason, are fascinated when the Prohibition Era comes up and the story is told. I think the fascination comes mostly from the fact that you could never get this type of legislation passed in Germany.....yet, it occurred in of all places....the US. Course, you can also point out....it lasted a dozen years, and was eventually written out of the Constitution as well.
