Five German News Stories

 1.  Baywatch's David Hasselhoff was up and scheduled to do a couple of German concerts.  I noticed two days ago.....he's got a health concern, and those concerts have been cancelled.

2.  One of the Last Generation glue-activists did a court session yesterday in Stuttgart....conviction stuck.....3 months of jail given by the judge.  Then, he was given some 'time-off' to prepare.  He was supposed to go in the near future to present himself.

Well....he walked out the door and attended another glue-protest episode.  Again, he was detained and given a summons.

Just my humble view....I would imagine the same judge gets this case in four to six weeks, and on the second conviction....the guy might be looking at six to twelve additional months of jail, with no 'time-off' to present himself.  A full-year?  Yeah....he'll figure things out.

3.  Watching N-24 news this AM....just an odd story.  On the deportation list out of Berlin City.....there's 2,000 folks who are supposed to leave, and have refused to give their country of origin.

At some point, you sense that a huge jail-compound will have to be built in Germany and just lodge people who play this game.

4.  Via WELT....Banking expert Peter Praet has remarked.....he thinks the driving force for Putin and the war strategy....is that he believes Europe will fail economically....into some massive financial collapse.

He's not saying it's stupid or crazy.....just that certain conditions might prevail and prove Putin correct in the end.

Looking at the situation....if the war were to last five or six years....maybe Praet would be proven correct.  Presently, no one is suggesting a five-year war.

5.  For those who didn't know this....the German postal system is run by Swiss Post.  Yeah....sort of a contract deal.

So Swiss Post has come up and said it wants to put a C02 'cost' label on German packages.  It'd tell you the emission value of what you ordered and was delivered.

Would it make any difference?  I'd suggest that for nine out of ten Germans....NO. For the 10-percent group.....yeah, they might really get hyped up.

The FDP political folks jumping into this and criticizing it?  Yeah.

It won't surprise me by 2030....if everything you buy (even toilet paper) has some C02 'cost' number assigned.
