IAA Chatter

If you've read my essays over the past three years, you will remember that I've essayed a bit over the international car show which used to be held every two years in Frankfurt (the IAA show), and how it was a big deal for the city.  You will also note that the past two shows....were fairly dismal, with local attention focused on negative aspects of gas and diesel cars.  The IAA folks finally said enough, and left Frankfurt....picking Munich as the new location.

Well....I read a short piece this morning....the Munich political folks are thinking of having a minor anti-IAA show around the IAA event.  A staged show to advocate bicycles, public walking and anything without a gas/diesel aspect?  Yeah.

I'm not sure if they revealed their plan to the IAA folks, or how they really reacted to this idea.

The current show?  Scheduled here in the fall of 2021....provided Covid-19 isn't around.  Some folks are suggesting that the show might not occur, or if it did go....it'd just be a ten-company event with a minor draw on public attention.

This anti-car agenda?  I would suggest that around 2-to-3 percent of the population revolve in some way with this agenda.

Trying to run some international show just on bicycles?  Good luck with that idea.

I suspect part of this plan is to stage the anti-car folks at some place in Munich miles from the IAA show, and demonstrate to the anti-car folks that no one much cares for their 'show' or political agenda.
