Covid-Friday

A few days ago, I essayed over the wife's concerns of having Covid, but the two tests on her (one on me) were negative.  Yesterday, she went to the doctor, and he did the PCR test (the final word test).

This morning, results came back....positive.  So we are now on a ten to fourteen day quarantine (if I count up her days, we are on day six).

The doc said that since day one of the virus business.....he'd had a total of thirty folks, and only one required hospitalization.

So this software program on the smart-phone that she lugs around?  The program that monitors contacts and alerts you on 'red' and 'green' status?  Crap.

Chief reason I suspect?  No one carries their smart-phone from work area to work area in the company.

Where'd she get it?  Well....the office.  Out of 15 folks who work there...around twelve have the virus (all since Friday of last week).  You'd think....with eleven folks around her, this program should have alerted as people were tested positive.  I asked her this morning, what the status was?  Solid green.

The folks in the office who don't have it?  They were off from work that week....on vacation-time.

As for condition?  Well...I'd refer to it as a bad flu....some fever....some loss of smell/taste, and a bad cough (particularly at night).

Can you take your retired ID card and drive up to the base and get a COVID-19 shot ASAP instead of having to wait on the German system?

Simple answer here....there is a priority system (doesn't matter Army or AF) and with the ID, if you fit into the current priority deal...yes, it's free. On AF, they are priority two folks, moving to priority three in roughly four weeks. Based on what I read last month...my category is group 4, which puts me in mid-summer at current pace.

Again, it all goes back to quantity of production, and nobody really understood that back in the summer of 2020.

Other issue that comes up is the type (AstraZeneca, Moderna, BioNTech, and potentially Sputnik). BioNTech is like the gold-standard for Germans. Sputnik is going to come on like gangbusters in May (particularly if you live in Bavaria...they seem to have a big contract worked out). I'd do some reading before settling on the choice.

My general plan (before I got the virus this week) was to wait for the military to deliver in the summer. Now, with the virus....I got plenty of free time and will have anti-bodies through the end of the year. If you live in/near Bavaria....you might have German opportunities coming up by end of May.
