'G' Chatter in My State

My public TV network from the Hessen area (HR) went and had a chat with pub/bar owners....over the 3G/2G discussion.

Roughly three-quarters of the folks responded (owners/managers).....they really don't want the 2G option forced down upon them.

2G of course....means the test option for Covid is out.

Public opinion?  You rarely get this in polling data.  I suspect if you just limited it to the 18 to 25 year old crowd....the majority of consumers want the test-option on the table (meaning 3G).  If you went to poll the over-50 crowd?  They likely would be a majority for the 2G (meaning no test-option).  That's my humble opinion.

Hurting pub/bar business?  The discussion really focuses around increasing incidence rates (fall up, spring-summer down), the necessity of interiors for crappy weather (Germans hate drinking in cold situations), and the fact that you have to mix hygiene rules into any indoor situation that you develop as a business model.

There's just not any club, bar, or pub in existence today.....that makes the turnover and profit level of 2019.  So if you go to a pub owner and suggest the hygiene gimmicks, and G2....you are probably cutting 40-percent of your profit level as a minimum.

For the folks who can't fit into a G2 drinking/partying scene?  Most will just walk into a grocery....buy their beer/booze, and go with other non-G2 folks....to some city park or garage situation, to privately hangout.

Maybe there was good intent or some smart virus guy who made up the rules....but I don't think they ever hung out with people who drink or party.  I see the German cops just plain extra busy this fall and winter....trying to make 2G situations work, and wishing they could just handle regular criminals.
