My local German village wrapped up it's mega-fest last night. The theme of the fest....is apple-wine. It's safe to say that probably half-a-million cups of apple-wine were sold over the three-day period.
I've been to the fest at least ten times over the past twenty-odd years.
Back in the 1990s, you could have walked through the entire fest, and there might have been a total of two local state-cops patrolling the fest. About the only trouble that you'd ever notice would be after 9PM, and the teenies drinking hefty amounts of alcohol....getting drunk, and brawling.
This weekend, there were at least three patrols (minimum of two guys, sometimes three guys...on each single patrol). Part of this goes to the public perception of a terror threat now existing.
It doesn't matter where you go in the region now....you tend to notice more cop patrols (day and night).
