A Odd Historical Repeat

From the summer of 1996 to the fall of 1998, the most seen political figure on ARD/ZDF (the two public TV networks of Germany) was Gerhard Schroder.  This is when Helmet Kohl was still Chancellor, and Schroeder was the SPD's party chief.  I sat through that period and noted to my German wife that he seemed to be continually interviewed by the public TV journalists.  This went from political topic forums.....to just promi-type or entertainment-type forums.

The hype?  Well....he looked 'Chancelloristic'.

It was no shocker in the fall of 1998, when Schroder won the election.

This morning, someone went and reviewed all of the ARD/ZDF public TV forums of 2018.  The top seen political figure?  Robert Habeck....of the Green Party.  Statistically, they have the data to establish this fact.

Leading to the 2021 national election?  Yes.  I'm suggesting that ARD/ZDF are working hard to present the image of Habeck.  Personally, I think the Greens are on the positive trend line, and likely to exceed the CDU/CSU vote count.
