The Man With No Country

I often refer to the various pieces of the immigration 'mess' as an event where 5th-grade kids are running the system, and you can never be sure about any piece or part of German immigration.  So Focus, the German news magazine, pulled out this 8-line story this morning.

The Germans were holding this Afghan guy who'd been convicted on several charges (robbery and personal injury were among the convictions).  They had an entry-exit paper given to them from the Afghan authorities....to send the guy out of Germany and into Afghanistan.  Things all seemed to fall into order.

So they boarded the guy with 35 other deportees, and he officially left Germany on Monday.  The plane flies into Kabul and lands.  The 35 other folks?  No problem.  This one guy?  There's two issues.   They say health-wise, he's got 'something'.....but no one is clear about that, it might be TB.  It might be mental issues.  But the second issue is a bigger problem....they don't think he's the guy that he claims to be.

A fake Afghan?  Well, that's the suggestion by the Afghan authorities.  They put him back on the plane and refused him.

The 23-year old guy then flew back to Germany and is being held in a facility.

More work on his ID?  I'm guessing here but I would suspect that several Germans are now pursuing his file, and wondering about his ID.  Maybe the guy is a habitual liar, and nothing much really fits in his story.  Maybe he's from Pakistan originally.  As for his medical condition?  That's still a question-mark.   Will be interesting if they can't prove his ID and they get stuck with him.
