Hamburg Race

In roughly ten days, a state election will occur in Hamburg.  It's not openly discussed much, and there's not a lot of drama over this.  If you previewed ARD (public TV, Channel One), that's a decent update over the election.

Right now, the edge is given to the SPD Party....roughly 32-percent of the polling is in their favor.  The Greens come in second with 23-percent.  So the two ought to clear a minimum of 50-percent, and likely partner up as a coalition.

The CDU (right-of-center)?  At 14-percent.

The far-right AfD?  Currently at 6-percent.  It's not exactly a region where any real anti-migrant talk is uttered.

This is the only state election (at least currently) for 2020, and there's no real shocks about the polling numbers.  If you've ever been up to Hamburg and walked around....you'd probably say that a majority of the public leans left, and the environment is a big deal locally.

As the news people discuss the race....a lot of the chatter is about affordable housing, and complaints over transportation.  Lots of promises can be made, but when you go looking for solutions.....they go back to limited funding, and lowered expectations.
