What Does the German Expression 'Hotel-Mama' Really Mean?

It's typically an expression where the son (or sons) of the family have 'nested' and stay on (past 18, past 20, past 22, past 24 years old).

The description would be that Mom provides a basic hotel service....with laundry covered, dinners, beer in the basement, garbage and utility service, free parking, and 'extras' (like replacement of the mattress, or cable-TV).

Germans tend to use the expression in a joking manner....occasionally getting hyped up that junior has abused 'Hotel Mama' and ought to move out.
