Late today (Sunday)....the German company Adler announced they are going bankrupt.
N-TV had a brief update over the episode.
Who was Adler? Well...they were a clothing company that big and tall guys (and women) went to, and for regular people as well. If I were going to compare them to anything in the US....it'd be halfway between a JC Pennnys and Hirmer Shops (in California).
There are around 170 shops in Germany.
They were a company that really suffered greatly in the first lockdown (Spring 2020), and barely got any footing after stores reopened. So this mid-December lockdown....finished them off.
More to come? Well...that's the thing. Two lockdowns in 2020, and the government has marginally done much for the stores themselves (they did fix short-work for employees to get some coverage of their pay).
An attempt by the government to shake-up Adler and sell it to some outsider? I imagine it'll be attempted. The issue is....is there a third lockdown down the road?
