Germany and Covid-19: 10 Jan 2021

 1.  The vaccination centers around Hessen (my local state) go into full-scale operation on the 19th of January.  Public TV (HR) is reporting up to a thousand folks are either acting as volunteers or 'hired-up' to run the various centers. As these open up, the secondary group of folks on the priority list (anyone over 80 years old).  Some chatter within the Hessen region that almost 90-percent of ICU beds are filled.

2.  Interesting health piece off N-TV this morning....talking over the long-term symptoms of Covid-19.  A majority of folks who've had Covid-19....three-quarters of those in the study....say muscle weakness and fatigue haven't really gone away.

I will point this out....having had pneumonia as a kid....you don't feel one-hundred percent for a minimum of three to six months.  I can still remember the run-down feeling.  There simply isn't full breathing going on....which might lead to less oxygen flow.  A lot of these Covid-folks basically walked into pneumonia as part of the Covid-trail.

3.  Short piece came up on N-TV as an update.....this chatter in past two weeks about the Brit mutation of Covid-19?  Well....the BionTech company says their basic research shows the vaccination is capable of handling the 16-odd mutation groups of Covid-19.  More study is required, but it's pretty encouraging news.

4.  At this point (reported last night).....since day one, a total of 1.911-million Germans have had the infection, and 1.511-million are considered 'recovered.

Total number of Germans dead since day one: 40,221.

Total number of Germans now vaccinated: 522k.  You might see an big upswing on these numbers by the end of January....when the vaccination centers go into full-scale operations in another week or so.
