Germany and Covid-19: 6 Jan 2021

 1.  BR (public TV in Bavaria) noted in news this morning that the Bavarian state government had talked over the carnival-fest period, and said it's officially cancelled within the state of Bavaria.

As for NRW, the Pfalz and Baden-Wurttemberg (the other states with big carnival fests?  Nothing much yet, but I'd expect them all to say 'cancelled' within the next ten days.

As for Oktoberfest?  Nothing yet.

2.  The German Police union has said that this new rule about controlling people in 'hot-spots' to a 15-kilometer circle....is not going to be easily enforced.  They hint....unless you put massive fines into place....it's just not going to work.

3.  A story came out this afternoon...from Bavaria, and Focus laid out the basic tragic situation.

Biontec has this vaccine that is being produced, and it MUST stay at a frozen state after production, and until day prior to use.

Well....after being 'delivered' to the central Bavarian depot....from that point on...it was transported in what you'd call camper-cooler boxes.  Ruined?  Yep.

There's going to be some kind of investigation but it begs questions over who is in charge and how this marginal cooler was selected for the second transport.

4.  The Heath Minister of Bavaria....resigned today.  Confidence was lost with the Premier-President.
