3, 6, or 9?

 Germans this morning....are sitting and watching probably one of the most comical discussions over Covid of the past two years....play out.

So, there were three status levels that folks got introduced to in 2021.....vaxed-up, recovered, and tested.  If you weren't vaxed-up....then you fell into the category of having had Covid, or you never had Covid but were willing to test daily to prove your status.

Well....'had-Covid' was generally detailed out in 2021 to mean you had Covid and the virus gave you six months of 'protection'.

Precisely six months?  No one can say that....as a fact.  It's just a sum of time 'guessed' upon by virus experts.  If you were 50 pounds overweight.....you might not have the full six months of protection.  If you were exceptionally healthy, you might have had a minimum of six months.  

So as the new coalition government arrived, and a new Health Minister got announced....this Covid chatter came up and the subject of recovered was discussed.

Folks were a bit shocked back two months ago....as they suddenly learn that 'recovered' now meant three months....NOT six months.  Where was the science and data?  Well....it could not be produced.  This was just a decision made, and people needed to just accept it.

So if you follow Focus news pieces....this morning....we come to the next chapter on recovered.

The states of Germany (16 of them) are supposed to meet and talk about this draft agreement.  Rather than allowing the Health Minister to dictate 3 months....they've gone the other way and say that NINE months ought to be the correct number for recovered status.  In this little discussion, they've also hinted that states ought to have control over the situation, and NOT the federal Health Minister.  

Confusion?  As this filters out today, and the nightly news of public TV tries to explain this.....they will invite Lauterbach (the Health Minister) to talk over this, and he will voice something in total disagreement with the state officials.

Science to this?  Well....if you would go and do a simple blood test on a guy who had Covid around the 3rd month after the virus....you'd have x-amount showing, and could provide an accurate summary where he ought to be at the 6th month.  Then you'd test the guy again, and maybe he's still got x-amount of antibodies in his system, so you approve him for a total of nine months.  We might even be shocked to test the guy at nine months....to find that he's still got antibodies and can be certified for 12 months.  

But to just grab a number out of the air, and make some cross-society decision....without any testing?  It can't be done unless you just make up a number and say it's science at work (when it's not).

So tonight, as Huns and Ursula start to head off to bed....there will be this twenty minute discussion over their confusion.....3, 6, or 9.  Eventually, one of them will ask why 12 couldn't be discussed.
