The Strategic Value of E28

There's this major European road that leads out of Berlin, heads north along the coast of Poland, goes through Kaliningrad, then Lithuania, and finally ends up in Minsk, Belarus.  Roughly 760 miles, and is of critical value to Russia's Kaliningrad.

Russians goods and products flow through to Minisk.....and onto Kaliningrad, via E28.

The critical value, if Russia invades the Ukraine?  Well....in a matter of hours, I might expect the Lithuania folks to question all trucks heading west out of Belarus, and if they have some military-related cargo.

This act of reviewing truck cargo?  It'd draw a lot of attention within hours, and likely turn into a trigger event for Belarus/Russia to act in some military fashion.

This affecting two major Lithuania cities?  Vilnius and Marijampole.

If you were wondering why there might be a build-up on the NE part of Poland, next to Lithuania.....that's why.
