There's been a big push now for government funding for a LNG port to be built....to accept/handle US LNG tankers (up in the Hamburg region).
Well....over the weekend, there was a Green Party meeting and a vote was held to settle this (to say the party would support this).
NO, was the answer (it was voted down).
Reason? The 'future' of Germany's energy support is climate-neutral....with carbon based energy terminated by 2035.
At some point, the talks went to the idea that this might be both a LNG/Hydrogen port....but then folks said where is the evidence that Hydrogen could also be handled by this particular port?
Creating a state-by-state election issue for the Greens? I might go and suggest that. They are correct on the fact that this carbon-energy business is now finished off by hard legislation written down.....so why waste millions building something to just get you by for a dozen years after completion?
After this? I'd say the next couple of years are a rough experience for energy consumption/cost.
