22 Oct 2024: Four German News Stories

 1.  Extremely 'hot' chat going on in the Bundestag....the draft spending bill for 2025 is NOT settled, and appears to have missing funds.

The missing fund amount?  Well...the CDU says it's near 50-odd billion Euro.  The FDP is suggesting it's closer to 25-odd billion Euro.

Key issue?  This gets to be interesting....12-billion is associated with climate change and transformation spending.

What'll happen?  Either they agree to gut a number of things, or there's going to be new taxation schemes coming up.

2.   The 'Hard But Fair' public forum show from Monday night (on ARD, Channel One)?  It was a long discussion over Gen-Z German youth, and how screwed-up they are (meaning in business).

I watched about 20 minutes...eventually giving up.  So the two groups in the room were the Gen-Z folks....who seem to believe the older workers  are  'helpless', technically unable to deliver, and giving off some false domination leadership.  The other crowd....folks over 40....suggesting that the Gen-Z folks were fragile, unable to focus, and lacking teamwork.

I almost thought I was watching a comedy show.  If I were a 'boss'....last thing on Earth I'd probably do....hire anyone in the 18-to-25 year old group.

3.  Deichmann (the shoe shop  in Germany) went out and bought Esprite (they were in some financial woes).  It would appear that Deichmann wants to show some upgraded shoe/clothing line and this might be interesting to watch unfold.

4.  New Covid-XEC variant going around Germany at present.  Lot of chatter over this.
