31 Oct 2024: Seven German News Stories

 1.  They started up a new scenario for the collapse of the coalition gov't of Germany.  Presently, they (the SPD-Green-FDP coalition) have NOT yet approve the 2025 budget.

There is talk presently that a collapse of the gov't is openly discussed, and that NO budget may be passed by this gov't....with a wild six-week period of campaign...with a possible new fed election by mid-December.  This would mean (under this scenario)...a limited budget existing for the beginning of 2025.  It usually takes about four weeks for a coalition process to occur, so you wouldn't have a true budget until the end of January.

2.  German President Steinmeier visiting Greece.  Subject of reparations for WW II came up (again).

3.  Inflation in Germany up in October.

4.  WELT had an interesting article.....growth of cafes in Berlin....who are run with employees who are ONLY English-speaking.

5.  Some kind of terror attack was planned and attempted in Berlin.  Cops came upon the suspect....he ran...dropping the bomb-bag.  The guy disappeared before any arrest could occur.

6.  Talks at VW over a potential pay-cut, VW employees have to agree to a 10-percent pay-cut....to stall job cuts.  No one is sure how the union will react.

7.  Regionally, here in Hessen....the Linke Party (far-left) came out with a demand that US medium-range missiles NOT be stationed in the Wiesbaden area.  They say that locals should have a vote on the topic.

To be honest....no one has said where the missiles will go, and this Linke discussion might be mostly BS.
