Tempo-30

In most all urbanized areas of Germany, there are two speed limits.  The majority of non-housing streets are 50 kph (51 mph), and the majority of housing/residential areas are 30 kph (18 mph).

There's been chatter for the last year or two....in several highly urbanized areas of dumping the 50 kph limit, and going to 'tempo-30' (18 mph).  We aren't saying for just a minor part of the cities.....we are talking about 75-percent or more....of these cities.

The advantage?  Well....they claim safety and making things more efficient.

What I see coming out of this?  I might go and predict more blitz-cameras being put out, and  speeding tickets likely to rise.  Getting from one side of Frankfurt to the other?  You could be talking about an extra 15 minutes of travel time.

If you were looking for some 'process' to entice people to do an exodus out of urban living?  Yeah.....this might help.
