New Ticket?

So this new ticket by the Bahn folks (German national railway) is openly discussed.  The 20-trip ticket?  The SWR regional public TV folks discussed the idea.

Right now, you can buy a monthly ticket (my local town to Frankfurt) for 198 Euro (a hefty price but decent if you used your car for the same trip).  I should note, this would be roughly 30 km from point A to B.

So this new deal?  Limit of 20 round-trips....with 33-percent off the 198 Euro.

Using this deal for regional trains? NO.  Thats the curious part of the story.....it has to connect in some way to ICE trains (the longer distance trains).

More flexibility?  They suggest that, but it's hard to see a better deal than the monthly ticket (24-hour use between X and Y).

The offering of this to counter Corona problems?  Well....yes.  A lot of people have just plain quit using the train unless it's purely for work-related travel.  Summer vacation travel or weekday trips to tourist events?  It used to be a big deal.  Right now....most folks just shake their heads.
