N-TV had an update this morning on the release of this Coronavirus 'tracking' App for Germany.
The release is wrapped up, and will occur next week.
Total cost for development? In the range of 20-million Euro.
The curious operations cost is in the range of 2.5-million to 3.5-million Euro....monthly. Why? Well...someone wrote a requirement into the details for a hot-line number (actually two of them). Germans typically have questions, and there has to be someone to answer them.
Why two numbers? One appears to be on the technology itself and the App. The other appears to be if you get notified on interaction with someone with the virus.
Amusingly enough, it got brought up that it'll be a multi-lingual 'help' desk....German, Turkish and English.
The next obvious problem? Hackers attempting to break into the system. I sat and pondered over this. Other than a name....there ought not be a serious loss if the hack occurred. Then it occurred to me....if you looked at location data and knew a guy's habits, then you could time breaking into his house or apartment with ease. Beyond that....it's hard to find value in a hack.
So settle back and watch the next stage of the Corona 'era'.

The data is never deleted.
I would question the 'never deleted'. If this is true...it's going to consume a fair amount of the storage space in just 90 days. Zero necessity for anything beyond 30 days.
