Mask Story

I was in the Mainz Bahnhof (train-station) yesterday.  It was a 10-minute 'stop'.

Normally, there would be around 500 folks either outside waiting on a bus/tram, standing around the station itself or walking through the station at that time of the day.  I probably counted no more than 100 people.  It's the Covid-effect....more or less.

At some point, I noted a migrant guy on the entry level....trying to step into the building without a mask, and was angling over to the tobacco shop....then trying to buy a mask.  The shop didn't have masks for sale.  The guy moved onto the next potential shop....no dice....no masks either.

You see...to be inside the structure (by current ban rules), you have to have a mask on.  To travel by bus, tram, or train....you must have the mask on.  This guy was screwed.

So then enters the police patrol (third level)...four guys and mostly there to eyeball people for mask violations (not drug trafficking or bad-boy stuff).

From my position of observation....an event was to quickly unfold.

Sure enough....the migrant guy has come to realize he can't find a mask for sale on the first level (entry) area and about to proceed to the second level (by escalator).  There's a drug store on that level, and likely to sell masks.  The cop facing that direction sees him and gives the shout-out warning....forcing the migrant guy to retreat.

This is the chief problem with this mask 'absoluteness'.  If you make a mistake in the middle of your day, and lose your stupid mask.....there's a limited number of places which might sell these.  On this list....mostly drug stores, tobacco/lotto shops.

Whatever the plan was for this migrant guy?  Without the mask....he can't travel or proceed on, until he procures a stupid mask.  And getting a mask isn't exactly easy.

Me?  In each car, I keep two extra masks.  On my person....I'll have the primary mask and one cheapo spare mask.  Trying to get around Germany without a mask?  It's near impossible now.

Ha, ha very funny story,

I think this happens everywhere right now with all the lockdowns, I was witness to another 'mask' story in an LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario )store, as you may know most stores were closed beside the Liquor Stores, Beer Stores, Food stores and Pharmacies under the lockdowns, at each LCBO store ( this is a chain store operated by the Province of Ontario that sells Liquor ) a guy in construction equipment tries to enter the store without a mask, the security at the door starts an argument with the guy, he argues for a few minutes ( I was waiting in line at checkout so I saw from a distance the argument ), this man gets out of the store and promptly comes back without his T-Shirt only the yellow west on him bare chest and arms … and the TShirt wrapped around his face more like one of these cowboy robberies type of mask LOL and he passed through the security … I bet he really put a smile on many shoppers faces - but you could not tell because of ... their masks LOL

Back in the summer (when summer heat hit around 34 degrees C)....I was at some store where some German guy had walked up with a paper-mask on. Don't know what he was doing before the arrival...but there was a coffee cup of sweat over his brow and face, and the paper-mask was soaking wet...I would assume totally and absolutely ineffective. But he walked on into the grocery wearing it.
