In simple terms, no. At best, this is a no-win, no-lose situation that if allowed to continue past sixty days...would bleed the Army down, trigger massive economic chaos in Russia for the working class, and make the Ruble very similar in nature to the Iranian Rial (don't even get me started on the worthless value of this currency).
Note, one single dollar today will buy you 42,000 Iranian Rials. Asking me the value of the dollar to the Russian Ruble at the end of April? Just an educated guess.....but likely to be 2,000 Rubles to the dollar.
So to ten observations:
1. While China 'big-boy' (the government may support Russia)....the regular manufacturing arm of China is not going to build and market washers/dryers to Russia.....to be paid in worthless Rubles. The working-class of Russia is not going to paid a sum of $1,500 for what ought to be $800 worth of Chinese washers and dryers. So Chinese commerce....whether the Chinese government wants to admit it or not....is going to rapidly slow down through March/April.
2. The Russian military logistics arm....to provide just regular day-to-day necessities to keep the 'machine' running in Russia.....was never built to handle a 150-km 'run' from the depot of the railway position. Since Ukraine has destroyed the railways along the north.....it's up to trucks to convoy supplies to the advancing front. Every single indication shows this to be failing. Fuel trucks? Blown up daily. So tanks move a few miles....wait on refueling....then get attacked, and lay there as gutted armor vehicles.
3. The FSB (KGB folks) seem to have admitted in public this plan was never more than a discussion type plan, and they never thought it'd be used for a real situation.
4. Ukraine mandated all men to stay and fight. Believe it or not....the nation rallied around that theme, with thousands of women who also stayed to fight.
5. The independent news of Moscow? Dead....shut-down, and not likely to be allowed back any time in 2022.
6. The BS talk of Nazis in the Ukraine? Really? That is the best fake story that Moscow can generate and Putin can utter?
7. Anti-tank missiles and Stingers doing the job? The Ukrainians can't do that much against the missiles....but every one fire....is one less to face tomorrow. The Russians can't see much wisdom in bringing their whole inventory down and crapping it all over one single nation.
8. The banking structure of Russia crapped over....by these stupid western 'gimmicks' (Paypay, Apple-pay, MasterCard, etc)? Yeah....Putin doesn't have the reserves to really do much to dig the working-class people out of the pit. The fact that images are appearing of Moscow grocery stores have bare shelves today? That really makes you wonder about the long-term future.
9. Having Russian conscripts admit their capture, and they were told they were supposed to be liberators for the poor Ukrainians?
10. That 72-hour 'slam' being all that was necessary to win the war? Well.....forget that idea.
So, no....Russia cannot win, but might be able to stall this for two or three months....to just say it was a nice little war....they killed all the Nazis, and then retreat back into their 'hole'....hoping the cash reserves and Oligarch money is loosen up (it won't happen).
Putin? A fair sum of Kremlin people have to be thinking over his strategy and how he failed.....then wondering why keep the guy around?
This will be discussed for a hundred years....how some marginally successful first-world country.....fell into the North Korea-status and couldn't 'get up'.
