For those who've not heard of the store name of 'Metro'.....it's a big shop that sells to small grocery operations, restaurants, cafes, and catering services. A normal German gets to no access to the place.....you need a commercial license and to be a 'member' of the Metro club.
So it came this morning....reported that Metro is setting a rationing program up for certain items. Namely....edible oils (sunflower oil for example).
Odds that this rationing will reach regular grocery stores in Germany? I would imagine by this weekend....there's a limit of one sunflower oil container per purchase.
Grapeseed, canola, and vegetable oil are decent substitutes for sunflower oil, but I would imagine people are already grasping this, and buying a dozen bottles at a time.....with these likely being rationed within the next two weeks.
