Dealing With a Crisis Chatter

Last night, a public TV forum came on via Channel Two (ZDF), the Maybrit Illner Show.

In the midst of this, they had retired SPD politician Sigmar Gabriel on.  He's a common sense sort of guy, who got pushed out 'early' into retirement by the Party.

At some key point in the discussion (over Covid-19 and the vaccination business)....he made the comment: "We have forgotten how to deal with a crisis."

It's a blunt statement but there's a lot of truth to it.

If you gaze around the top level of the government....there's a couple of people who did time as mayors or Premier-Presidents of their home states, but the bulk of 'managers' missed that step (including Merkel herself).

There's a whole level of experience you gain via that time as a mayor or Premier-President.  In this level of thinking....Gabriel is correct....they really don't know how to prioritize or understand how different levels of government function.

But at this point in the game....a year into this....it probably doesn't matter.
