Q-and-A: Germany: 12 Feb 2022

 1.  The approaching war?

If you gaze across the dozen top German news sources.....virtually all hype this and if you believe their BS....it's in the next two weeks.

Affect on German society?  Well....something will finally displace Covid chatter each night, and there's likely to be some amazed Germans that grasp natural gas is in short supply.  That whole Nord Stream II pipeline will come into full discussion.

2.  A 23-page summary on how to apply the mandated vaccination order on medical/caretaker personnel?

Yes.  As we edge closer to the 15 March date where all German medical folks (ambulance folks as well), and retirement home caretakers must be vaxed-up....the federal Health Ministry handed down a 23-page 'how-to' document.

Regionally (within my state of Hessen), there's been questions to arise, and a fair number of politicians don't see how this really works.  One Vogelsberg politician figures 10-percent of affected personnel will not vax, and questions arise....if you dismiss them....then what?

My personal take is that it will be implemented on 15 March, with various hospitals and retirement homes still employing unvaxed personnel....mostly just grinning at the government and saying 'we did all we could'.  In some regions, they might go to the harsh situation and terminate employees....only to find they can't run a fully functional retirement home or hospital.

Those employees let go?  If they are certified/trained nurses....their resumes will likely get picked up by headhunters in the Nordic countries, and will have new jobs in a matter of days.

3.  The next Covid administrative 'stumble'?

Well....there's this 18 June 'electronic' vaccination card gimmick to arrive, and be also mandated.  There is some belief (factual info is limited) that there would be some scanning capability and if you arrived at some pub.....they'd supposedly be able to scan this card and get some government guarantee that you were 'safe'.

Just another card that you got to carry around?  That's generally my take on this.

I suspect private individuals will want the scan capability, and if the cops arrive at the door....I could see some scenario where they refuse entry if cop is non-vax.  Same type scenario for arriving at a pub to be forced for scan, and then you demand the right to counter-scan the pub owner.

In the end.....just more regulation on top of maximum regulation already existing.

4.  Inflation affect on me?

In a normal month, I go through two bottles of lemon juice (I add it to water).  A normal bottle would typically run 1.59 to 1.69 Euro before 2021.  Today?   You can't find any bottle/brand for less than 1.99 Euro, and some are up in the 2.20 range.  It's not going to toss my 'world' around but it's one example out of sixty-odd items....where escalation is taking place.

One grocery halted the normal brands, and tried to introduce me to 'premium' lemon juice....in the range of 3 Euro.
